Abstract

767,646. Pneumatic separating. SMIDTH & CO. AKTIESELSKAB, F. L. March 17. 1955, No. 7876/55. Class 117 Fine particles are removed from a mixture containing coarse particles by feeding the mixture downwardly through a cylindrical shaft 1 countercurrent an air stream fed at 2 and exhausted at 3. Partitions 4 with inclined holes 5 cause abrupt changes in the gas stream velocity and cause a whirling of the stream on passing through the holes. The gas is fed to a separator 9 in which the fine particles are precipitated, and the gas then flows to a dust filter 12. The gas may comprise a mixture of hot air and combustion gas fed from a furnace 14.
