767,553. Cycle stands. SCHEBLER, A. K., and URLBERGER, J. Nov. 23, 1954 [Nov. 28, 1953 ; Sept. 9, 1954], No. 33927/54. Class 136(1). In a stand for motor cycles or motor-assisted cycles, in which the front wheel of the cycle rests in two arcuate holding rails 4, 8 mounted on posts forming part of the stand, the front holding rail 4 is pivotally mounted at 3 in such a way that when unoccupied it tilts forward into an entry position, Fig. 1, in which its concave side faces the approaching cycle wheel, while the rear holding rail 8 is pivotally mounted at 7 in such a way that the two holding rails can adjust themselves to the curvature of wheels of different diameters. The stand is designed to accommodate a number of cycles arranged side by side. The holding rail 4, 8 may be mounted on posts 2, 5 respectively. Alternatively, the rails 4, 8 may be mounted higher up by providing bridges 9 connected by a cross-bar 11, a ramp 10 being arranged in an inclined position. An abutment 6, Fig. 1, is provided to limit the downward swing of the rail 8 so as to prevent a rather small front wheel sinking too far down. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 4, the pivotal axis 12 of the front rail 4 is at a sufficiently low level to make the surface upon which the approaching wheel is resting practically tangential to the arcuate bottom of the rail 4. The internal surface of each holding-rail 4, 8 of parabolic cross-section to enable wheels of different tyre widths to be held safely in the holding rails.
