Measuring-apparatus comprises an instrument having a semi-conductor member sensitive to a magnetic field as in the parent Specification, and in which a current to be measured is arranged to vary the magnetic field. In Fig. 1, a body 1 of indium antimonide or other Am Bv compound in a bridge circuit is fed with alternating current. The output of the bridge is applied via transformer 6, bridge rectifier and terminals 10, 11, to a direct current measuring instrument. Conductor 2 carrying the current to be measured is placed adjacent body 1, and the change in resistance of body 1 due to the magnetic field surrounding conductor 2 enables the current to be measured. In an alternative arrangement, the Hall effect output from the body is used instead of the change of resistance, to indicate the magnitude of the adjacent current. In this example, alternating current is applied to the body 1 via a choking coil having a core with rectangular magnetization loop, so that a rectangular constant current flows through the body regardless of variations in supply voltage.
