In a bogie type landing gear for aircraft having a shock-absorber housed in or forming part of a support leg or undercarriage by which the gear is attached to the aircraft, the bogie wheel units are individually balanced in relation to the support leg by hydraulic jacks, the chamber of each hydraulic jack being in fluid connection with the chamber of the main shock absorber. The main leg 3, which houses the principal shock absorber, carries at its lower end a pivot 6 for a pair of levers 5 which carry the wheels 17, 18. Lugs 7 on the levers each have pivotal connections with either the piston or cylinder of a jack 8 pivotally connected at its other end 12 to the leg 3. The chamber 21 of each jack 8 has a fluid connection through a flow restricting device 15 with a chamber 13 within the leg 3 which contains liquid normally at the level 22 and air 24. When the aircraft lands compression of one or both jacks 8 forces liquid from chamber(s) 21 through device 15 into chamber 13 thereby raising the liquid therein to level 23. The rate of flow through device 15 may be controlled by manually adjustable valves 16 and braking torque is reacted by levers 19 and rods 20. Various other embodiments are described. One jack may be coaxial with, and form part of, the main leg or the jacks 8 may be mounted vertically parallel to each other or their pivoted connections with the levers 5 may be co-axial with the wheel axles.
