Abstract

766,944. Posts. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd. Nov. 14, 1955 [Dec. 2, 1954], No. 34885/54. Class 20(1) A road bollard comprises a hollow casing 4 of rubber or the like mounted on a central stem 1 whose upper end 3 supports the inner surface of casing 4, the lower extremities of the stem and casing being rigidly associated with supporting means. Stem 1, e.g. of standard gas piping, has a spiked lower end 2 which, along with the flanged lower edge of casing 4, can be grouted in the ground. An illuminated sign (Fig. 2, not shown) may be provided on top of the bollard. In a modification, Fig. 3, the lower end of stem 1 is screwed into a base-plate 7 which has a recess round its edge to receive the lower end of casing 4 which is held by a clamping unit 8. Draw bolts 9 with spadelike lower ends grouted in the ground pass through apertures in the base-plate and clamping unit and are held by nuts 11
