Abstract

766,557. Moulding concrete lamp brackets &c. STANTON IRONWORKS CO., Ltd. Jan. 17, 1955 [Jan. 15, 1954], No. 1271/54. Class 87(2). Concrete bodies, particularly brackets, elbows and bodies of similar shape, are cast in a mould which is capable of contraction, about a perforated core through which air and water may be extracted, e.g. by suction. As shown, a curved mould for moulding a lamp bracket comprises two separate parts a, a, around a hollow core e which is perforated throughout its length at g, one end being plugged at f, the other end leading to an air and water extraction pump..Jointing pieces of resilient material b, which may be hollow and inflated, are placed between the mould halves. In operation, the interior of the mould is filled with concrete mixture j around the core e and both ends of the mould sealed. The pump is then operated and the mould halves permitted to move together. When the moulding is complete mould halves a, a, are removed by releasing bolts d.
