Abstract
764,965. Protective cut-out arrangements. GONINAN, C. W. April 5, 1954 [April 28, 1953], No. 9938/54. Class 38(5) An earth-control apparatus assembled in the form of a unit for connection between the supply and the appliance whose earth connections are to be supervised, has, in addition to the normal earth E provided for the power supply cable, a trailing earth TE for connection, for example, to a water pipe, the circuit including the coil 16 of the main contacter in the lines A, N, and the secondary of a transformer 15, the primary of which is connected across N, A, the coil 16 releasing the contacter if the earth circuit fails. The unit 9 includes an outlet socket (or plug) 11 to the appliance having two power contacts and two earthing contacts for connection to different points of the appliance frame. An additional, main, switch may also be incorporated in the unit (Fig. 4, not shown).
