762,653. Door operating apparatus. GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE OBERHAUSEN AKT.- GES. June 19, 1952 [June 27, 1951], No. 15502/52. Class 65 (1). [Also in Group XXX] A system for operating and controlling pit shaft air-lock gates has separate electric motors 8, 8<SP>1</SP> for operating the gates 2, 2<SP>1</SP> on opposite sides of each air lock; a change-over switch 17 which, when in the position shown, permits motors 8, 8<SP>1</SP> to be controlled independently by manual switches 15, 16; but which, when raised, allows both motors to be controlled by switch 15 alone. Further switches 13, 13a actuated by a skate 14 on the cage (not shown) prevent operation of the motors 8, 8<SP>1</SP> in the event of the cage being out of the lock, and cause the motors to close the gates, if open, when the cage is moved out of the lock. A solenoid actuated locking device 37 is provided to immobilize the winding gear when switch 17 is set for independent motor control and either gate is open. Each gate operating mechanism comprises a rack (not shown), spring supported within a channel 3, secured to the gate, and engaged by a pinion 6<SP>1</SP> driven by worm gearing 6 and motor 8. Limit switches 9, 10 are operated by cams 11, 12. In Fig. 4, each switch arm and conductor represents a pair of arms or conductors.
