Abstract
762,533. Electric correspondence control systems. DECCA RECORD CO., Ltd. June 10, 1955 [June 10, 1954], No. 17154/54. Class 40 (1). A stabilizing apparatus to adjust the position of a platform to maintain it level comprises an arcuate resistive element 11, a concentric conductor element 12 and a mercury bead 13 forming a tap on the resistance 11. Tilt of the stabilizer varies the position of the bead 13 and unbalances the bridge formed by the resistances 11 and 17 and fed from an A.C. or D.C. supply 14. The unbalance voltage is fed to an amplifier 15 which supplies a split field or 2-phase motor which through a suitable drive tilts the platform back to its horizontal position. The tap 16 on the resistance 17 is suitably attached to the platform. The resistance 11, conductor 12 and bead 13 may be replaced by two resistive arms 32, 33 enclosed in a U-tube containing mercury which shorts out parts of the resistances in proportion to the tilt.
