Abstract

761,689. Winding yarn. BRITISH NYLON SPINNERS, Ltd. April 27, 1955 [April 29, 1954], No. 12389/54. Class 120 (2). A machine for winding a continuous thread 27 on to frictionally-driven supports rotated by a drive roll 31, comprises two members 7, 9 pivotally mounted upon arms 11, 13 and carrying thread supports or mandrels 3, 5 the other ends of the arms 11, 13 being carried by shafts 15, 17 furnished with hand wheels 23, 25 by which the support-carrying systems 3, 7, 11, or 5, 9, 13 may be moved selectively. When the package. 29 on the mandrel 3 is fully wound it is moved into the doffing position, Fig. 3, and the mandrel 5 brought into driven relationship with the roll 31. The system 9, 13 is then manipulated until the mandrel 5 occupies the winding-on position of Fig. 4 and the system 7, 11 is moved downwardly to bring the mandrel 3 into the lower position. The doffing of the filled packages 29 may be effected manually or automatically by suitable cam means.
