Abstract

760,508. Mineral-mining apparatus. MACCARTHY, C. P. March 21, 1955 [March 23, 1954], No. 8383/54. Class 68 (1). A number of pick-carrying ploughs a are connected to a haulage means j of fixed length extending parallel to a conveyer f and the haulage means j is reciprocated by reciprocatory means attached to either end of said haulage means. The haulage means may comprise chains, rods or cables. The reciprocatory means may be either a piston-cylinder motor arranged at each end of the haulage means, the motors acting on said means alternately, or a double-acting piston-cylinder motor in which the piston rod m thereof extends from both ends of the cylinder n. Jacks u are provided for advancing the apparatus towards the face. The reciprocatory means and the jacks u may be pneumatically or hydraulically actuated. The side frames of the conveyer may be shaped to form guides for the ploughs and the reciprocatory means.
