A seed sower comprises a rotary dispenser 6 adapted to receive seeds in or on seatings 8 and rotatable inside a sleeve 1 having apertures leading into a hopper 11 and apertures 15 through which the seeds are deposited, the dispenser being provided with an air jet pipe 5 and being so shaped that compressed air flowing through the pipe 5 causes a lowering of pressure in the dispenser, thus causing seeds from the hopper to adhere to the seatings. As the dispenser rotates an outlet nozzle 7 for the compressed air is obstructed by a shield 10 causing the seeds to be ejected through the openings 15 in the sleeve. At the same time compressed air is blown through openings 14 to agitate the material in the hopper. A number of dispensers may be mounted on a tool-bar attached to hydraulic lift arms of a tractor, all the dispensers being actuated by a common shaft driven either by the power take-off shaft or by the rear wheels of the tractor or by landwheels. The compressor may also be driven by the tractor engine. The dispensers are preferably operated in conjunction with means for opening and closing the furrows. Each dispenser may be combined with one or more units to deposit fertilizer. Instead of one run of seatings, two or more may be provided. The seatings may be interchangeable to suit different sizes or shapes of seed. The shield 10 may be adjustably positioned to adjust the position where ejection of the seeds takes place. Compressed air may be admitted continuously or intermittently into the hopper from the pressure supply line, and the hopper may have an adjustable outlet valve to regulate the pressure thereon.
