Abstract

758,281. Shearing; straightening. SCHLOEMANN AKT.-GES. April 21, 1954 [April 21, 1953], No. 11461/54. Class 83 (4). The edge of a sheet 1 is trimmed by rotary shears 4 and the waste strip 5 is passed through a furnace 8 and a straightening device 9 to shears 10 which cut the strip 5 into manageable lengths and form a constructional unit independent of the rotary shears 4. The furnace 8 straightening device 9 and shears 10 are mounted on a common bed-plate and are independently adjustable transversely of the sheet 1 by electric motors 23. The lower rolls 12 of the straightening device are sufficiently long to support the sheet 1 and the upper rolls 15 are adjustable towards the lower rolls 12 by shafts 20 rotated through gearing by a motor 18. When trimming thin sheets where heating is not required, the furnace 8 serves as a guide for the waste strip S, or is moved transversely out of the path of the strip.
