Class 40(1) [Also in Groups XXVI and XXIX] In a system for measuring the rate of flow of, for example, fuel in a pipe 10, a rotor 11 in the pipe is geared to an electric motor the speed of which is controlled so as to oppose increases in the pressure difference between the upstream and downstream sides of the rotor. The rate of flow is shown on a meter 18 connected to a tachometer generator driven by the motor. This arrangement' compensates for changes in viscosity. The differential pressure may be measured by a device in which a pair of diaphragms responsive to the respective pressures act on a lever operating on the armatures of a pair of E-type transformers connected in opposition, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown). In a somewhat similar arrangement, Fig. 4, the lever carries unsymmetrical elements 35 completing the magnetic circuit of U-type transformers. In another arrangement, Fig. 5, a single diaphragm 40 controls a common armature 50 in relation to a pair of differentiallyconnected but unequal transformers. The output of the sensitive device acts on the motor via a magnetic amplifier 25.
