Abstract
756,275. Drying lignite &c. SCHUSTER, W. Aug. 10, 1954 [Aug. 10, 1953], No. 23278/54. Class 34(2). In a process for drying lignite or like colloidal matter in which the material is heated under the direct action of pressure steam and hot water and cooled in stages in one or more pressure vessels, the partial heat quantities liberated on cooling are stored separately and then supplied at different times and in the reverse order to vessels which are to be heated. Raw material is fed by conveyer belts 1, 2, 3 into bin 4 from which it is fed through shoots 5 into vessels 6 from which it is discharged after steaming into bins 7 from which it is removed by conveyers 8, 9, 10, containers 11 receiving water and condensate. Live steam produced in steam generator 12 flows through pipe 13 to the steamers and boiledoff steam from the upper stage passes through pipe 14 to upper accumulator 15 which later delivers steam to a steamer about to be heated. Boiled-off steam from the second stage passes through pipes 17 to intermediate accumulator 18 which delivers steam to the third stage through pipes 19 and steam from the third stage is sucked through pipe 20 to a condenser 21, air and residual steam being sucked off through ejectors 22. The condenser 21 communicates through pipes 23 with warm water reservoir 24 whence the water flows through pipe 25 to pumps 26 and so to the steamers.
