An air ionizer for therapeutic purposes consists of an electrically heated wire 1 coated with an alkaline earth oxide for emitting ions. The wire is connected to the negative pole of a battery and a freely movable electrode 9 held by the patient is connected to the positive pole. The wire 1 is mounted on the front of a casing containing a fan 5.
