Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:0754924/IV(a)/1> wherein R is monochlorphenyl or dichlorphenyl which dichlorphenyl radical has at least one chloro substituent in the meta or para position, R1 is hydrogen or alkyl of from one to five carbon atoms, R2 is alkyl of from one to five carbon atoms, and R3 is a dialkylamino group containing from two to four carbon atoms or an N-piperidyl group, and non-toxic salts thereof. The invention also includes the preparation of compounds of the above general formula in which a compound of the general formula <FORM:0754924/IV(a)/2> is heated at a temperature within the range of from 90 DEG to 200 DEG C. with a secondary amine HR3. The reaction may be performed in an organic solvent such as methanol, ethanol, benzene or toluene and a large excess of the secondary amine is preferably used. The reaction may be effected at normal or increased pressure. The crude reaction product may be purified by dissolution in acid, filtration and reprecipitation with alkali, followed by repeated recrystallization from alcohol, or of a soluble salt of the base from water. Examples describe the preparation of b -diethylamino-butyric acid - (p - chlor) - anilide and the corresponding o-p-dichloro compound, and b -N-piperidylbutyric acid-(p-chlor)-anilide and the corresponding o-chloro, m-chloro, o,p-dichloro and 2,5-dichloro compounds. Salts of some of these bases are referred to.
