Abstract
754,663. Mixing-machines. BRADFORD DYERS' ASSOCIATION, Ltd. Feb. 17, 1955 [Feb. 17, 1954], No. 4698/54. Class 86. A vessel 1 for mixing liquids together or mixing a liquid with a solid is provided with a detachable lid 4 carrying an electric motor 5 which drives a shaft 6 carrying a hollow rotor 10. The rotor is surrounded by a casing 11. The vessel is charged with liquid through an inlet 13. When the rotor 10 rotates at high speed liquid is drawn up the central part of the vessel and as the top is thrown out on to the main body of liquid. Vanes 12 prevent liquid near the bottom of the vessel from being carried round with the rotor. At the end of the mixing the liquid is discharged through outlet 14. The rotor 10 is preferably frusto-conical tapering downwards as shown, but may be cylindrical. Heating or cooling liquid may be passed through a jacket provided if required around the vessel.
