Abstract

753,321. Automatic regulation. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. June 30, 1954 [June 30, 1953], No. 18108/53. Class 38 (4). The invention relates to self-regulating circuits for obtaining a constant current from a variable voltage source by employing two series-connected, polarized saturable reactors as described in Specification 670,838 (i.e. a current through the windings increases the flux in one reactor and reduces it in the other). According to the invention the use of additional compensating windings on the reactors (as in Specification 670,838) is avoided, and compensation for fluctuations in voltage or frequency is provided by a linear reactor energized from the supply to pass a current through the load in antiphase to that passed by the saturable reactors. Specification 694,756 also is referred to.
