Abstract

752,758. Circlips. WALDES KOH-I-NOOR, Inc. Aug. 17, 1954, No. 23915/54. Class 89 (2). A circlip 13, Figs. 1 and 4, to be seated in a groove 12 in a shaft 11 to secure a part 10 to the shaft, comprises a ring-body 22, Fig. 4, gapped to permit of its assembly into the groove transversely of the shaft, and provided on its ends 18, 19 with locking-projections 26, 27 to engage the outer periphery of the shaft to lock the circlip in the groove. The projections are formed by displacing the ends from the plane of the body which may be bowed about its horizontal centre-line to such an extent that it must be flattened during assembly. The diameter of the groove-engaging part of the ring is smaller than the diameter of the bottom of the groove. In another arrangement the circlip 35, Fig. 7, is bowed about its vertical centre line, and the locking-projections 44 are formed by bending up tongues from the ends 39. The body may be cutaway to form spokes 15-17, and the projections are sufficiently small to pass through the groove during assembly and disassembly. Specification 660,746 is referred to.
