Abstract

752,719. Moulding hollow articles from thermoplastic sheet material. HYDROCHEMIE AKT.-GES. FUR CHEMIE UND' WASSERVEREDLUNG. June 29, 1954 [July 24, 1953], No. 18975/54. Class 87(2) [Also in Group XVII] A sheet of thermoplastic material a is placed upon a mould 4 and subjected to the effects of a vacuum and heat to cause it to assume the shape of the mould. A series of pins 13 then perforate the material a along a closed path adjacent the periphery of the mould whereafter a tube 16 is arranged as shown and a flat covering sheet b is added. The sheet b is held in position by said vacuum acting on it through the perforations in sheet a while the two sheets are joined together at the periphery of the mould by fusion or glueing. The sheet b is then heated and air is blown through the tube 16 to produce an outward bulge in the sheet b. The pins 13 are actuated by a plate 7 on a hollow shaft 9 through which a vacuum is created in the chamber 6. The heat source is at 5.
