Abstract

752,610. Gear pumps. SATZGER, E. Aug. 11, 1954 [Aug. 11, 1953], No. 23308/54. Class 110(2) A gear pump, Fig. 1, comprises gears 1, 2 provided with grooves to engage the pins 9, 11 of shafts 7, 10 respectively; the shaft 10 constituting a rotary slide valve having passages 22, 23 and a groove 13. Fluid is sucked through passages 18, 17 and fed to the. space 20 at the left hand end of the member 10 and thence through the passages 22, 23, 13 to conduits 24, 25 communicating with an outlet bore 28 and the suction side of the pump respectively. The pump is adjusted by a set screw 27 operating, if desired, against the action of a spring disposed in the passage 20. In a modification, Fig. 3, the pump discharges into a conduit 29 communicating by way of an oblique passage 30 in the valve 31 with an outlet conduit 28 and a recirculation conduit 25, and the outlet 28 being connected to the bore 34 by a conduit 36 and the valve being controlled by a spring-loaded member 38 as shown. In a modification of the embodiment described with reference to Fig. 3 (see Fig. 4, not shown), the conduit 25 is disposed to the left of the conduit 24 in order to reduce the delivery of the pump upon an increase of the discharge head.
