Abstract

752,239. Devices for holding viands while cooking. TANNER, H. H. Feb. 21, 1955 [Feb. 19, 1954], No. 4952/54. Class 28(1). Meat is held during cooking by a cradle having a part at each end to hold the meat and lugs or the like along the sides of the cradle round which string may be passed to secure the joint to the cradle. As shown, cradle 3 has side walls 4 carrying lugs 6 and extends upwardly at its rear end to form part 5. A front plate 9 has a depending tongue member which engages in any one of a series of slots 7 in cradle 3 and has a sole plate extending under the meat, so that the meat, e.g. a boned and rolled gammon, can be pressed against part 5. A bar 11 with lugs 14 has a tongue 12 engaging a slot 8 in part 5. The gammon is held by a piece of string as shown in Fig. 1, the lacing commencing near plate 9 and extending rearwardly over the bar 11 where it engages lugs 14.
