Abstract

752,017. Lift catch gear. WERKSPOOR N. V. May 17, 1954 [July 4, 1953], No. 14469/54. Class 78 (3). Catch gear for a lift consists of a member 3 which is locked to guides 1 by catches 4 when cable 5 runs slack, and a pair of strips 10 of deformable material, e.g. mild steel, which are normally retained between a pair of converging walls 9 on the cage but which are extended to the position shown, so gradually bringing the cage to rest, when member 3 is locked to the guides. The convergence of walls 9 produces a braking force which increases as the strips are extended. The walls may be provided with strip supporting grooves as described in Specification 750,751.
