Abstract
751,788. Gear pumps. HOBOURN-EATON MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd. March 11, 1954 [June 17, 1953], No. 7108/54. Class 110(2) A gear pump with internally meshing rotors with n and n+1 lobes has its external rotor 14 mounted in an eccentric sleeve 32 or 58 which has its internal and external peripheries eccentric to one another and which may be rotated, adjusting the eccentricity between the rotors 12, 14, to establish the proper nose clearance between the teeth of the rotors. The sleeve 32 is fixed in its adjusted position by a pin 44 inserted between a groove 42 in the housing 16 and one of the grooves 40 in the sleeve 32. Another method of fixing the sleeve is by inserting a rubber ring 66, Fig. 3, in a groove 64 in the end of the housing 60 and squashing it with the end plate 46 between the housing 60 and the serration (Fig. 4, not shown) round at least part of the outer periphery of the sleeve 58. The rotor 12 is keyed by a cylindrical pin 34 to a shaft 28 which is journalled eccentrically to the pump pocket 18 and carries a sealing ring 54.
