Abstract

A tubular electric heating element is moulded from molybdenum silicide, a powdered thermosetting resin and a plasticizer, using a die and a mandrel the cross-section of which may be reduced after moulding by (a) melting a layer of low-melting material e.g. wax on the mandrel, (b) providing the mandrel with several removable sections or (c) using a hollow mandrel with an elastic wall. The element is sintered after moulding.
