Abstract
750,760. Printing ; feeding sheets &c. KLUSSENDORF, W., KLUSSENDORF, C., and KLUSSENDORF, E., [trading as KLUSSENDORF, H. H., [Firm of]]. June 21, 1954 [July 1, 1953], No. 18158/54. Classes 100 (1) and 100 (2). Stamp-cancelling machines; tripping-arrangements.-In a machine for cancelling stamps on letters which are fed automatically to a continuously-rotating printing-roller 2 and an impression roller 10, the latter being urged resiliently against the roller 2 and automatically tripped therefrom, two feelers 15, 16 are adapted to engage the letters before they arrive at the rollers, these feelers comprising electric contacts arranged in parallel in the circuit of an electromagnet 17 and adapted to close this circuit, if no letter is fed to the rollers, to cause the electromagnet to lift the impression roller 10 away from the roller 2. The printing-roller 2 is in fixed bearings, inked by a roller 21, and driven continuously. The impression roller 10 is carried by one arm 12 of a bell-crank lever pivoted at 11, the other arm 19 being urged clockwise by a spring 13. When the circuit of the electromagnet 17 is closed, the armature 18 thereof engages the arm 19 to lift the roller 10. This circuit is completed when one of the feelers contacts the feed table 14 over which letters 20 are fed, and is only broken when both feelers 15, 16 are bearing on a letter. The feelers are adjustable along a bar 25 so that the tripping and release of the roller 10 can be adjusted, and thus the matter to be printed can be adjusted relatively to the letters. Sheet &c. separators.-The letters &c. are stacked at 22 and separated by a belt 7 engaging a roller 1, driven continuously about a fixed axis, and a roller 5 carried by a two-armed lever 3 pivoted about the axis of the roller 1 and urged counterclockwise by a spring 6. The belt 7 is urged towards a stop member 9 by the spring 6 whereby only one letter at a time can be separated. The stack 22 may be urged upwardly at 23 by spring means, but where letters are to be separated from the stack in overlapping relationship, the stack may be urged upwardly centrally at 24.
