Abstract

750,078. Filing papers. SOENNECKEN, A. Oct. 4, 1954 [Oct. 3, 1953], No. 28541/54. Class 146(1) Operating mechanism for a lever arch type file, comprises a double-armed actuating lever pivoted to a support extending upwardly from the base plate and having an operating key at each of its ends and eccentrically arranged means connecting the lever with the spring pressed cranked part of the actuating bar such that movement of the lever in one direction operates the bar to close the file while movement in the reverse direction causes the file to open under the spring force. As shown in Fig. 4, the lever 13 with operating keys 14, 15 is pivoted at 21 to an upstanding support 11 on the base plate 10. A roller 23, eccentric to pin 21, is pivoted on a oin 22 so as to ride on the cranked part 20 of the actuating bar (not shown), the pin 22 being long enough to allow slight lateral movement of the roller 23 which is formed with, a groove 24. As shown. the file is open and pressure on key 14 will close the file. As shown in Fig. 6. the lever 13. centrally pivoted at 21, has an outstanding flanged part 26 extending round the apex 25 of the hub of the lever, the apex being eccentric with respect to the pin 21, and the flange 26 pressing against the cranked part 20. The parts are shown in the open position and pressure on key 15 closes the file. As shown, the lever is closely adjacent the support 11 and flange 26 extends outwardly. In a modification. the flange 26 lies between the lever 13 and the support 11 and a short tubular sleeve surrounds the pivot pin 21 to improve the mounting. As shown in Fig. 2. the lever 13 is centrally pivoted to the support 11 by a pin 12 shaped to allow slight lateral movement of the lever. The lever 13 is connected to a clamping strip 19 round the cranked part 20 by a double link 17 pivoted to the strip 19 at 18 and eccentricallv of the hub of the lever at 16. The link 17 may be outside the strip ends 19. or vice versa.
