749,859. Axes; handle fixings. WHITEHOUSE & CO. (ATLAS FORGE), Ltd., W. Aug. 31, 1954 [Sept. 23, 1953], No. 26172/53. Class 61 The flat shank 13 of a hatchet is secured in an axial slot 12 in the handle 10 by one or more rivets 19 which pass through 'the handle and shank and also secure the metal sleeve 16 to the handle. The opposite ,edges 18 of the flat shank bear against and are supported by the sleeve. The sleeve 16 fits over the reduced end of the handle and extends to a position past the inner end of the slot. The head 11 of the hatchet is formed from a blank which is pressed from metal sheet of uniform thickness.
