[Also in Group XXVIII] A channel-section strap 13 embracing pipe flanges 10 and having side walls inclined relative to the flanges so as to effect a drawing together of the latter, comprises two arcuate portions 14, 15 having at least one pair of adjacent ends thereof separably interconnected by a quick release toggle mechanism. The latter consists of a link 21 carried on a lever 16 pivotally mounted on one strap portion 14, and on the other portion 15 a number of circumferentially spaced hooks 23 any one of which can be selectively engaged with the link to effect tightening of the strap upon the flanges 10 to different degrees of compression. The faces of the flanges 10 may be inclined and the side walls of the strap parallel. Each pair of adjacent ends of the portions 14, 15 may be interconnected by a toggle mechanism, or one pair of ends may be hingedly connected.
