Relates to manure distributers of the kind comprising a hopper 6 carried on a wheeled frame 1 and provided with a basal aperture 9 which is obturated by an axially movable valve 10 to control the flow of seed therethrough. According to the invention, the hopper is supported by a vertical shaft 5 extending axially through it and rigidly secured to the frame 1 at its lower end, the valve 10 being carried by a sleeve 11 movable along the shaft. The valve forms a conical boss which is integral with the vaned-disc spreader 12 and with its driving pulley 15. The disc is driven from the landwheel axle 2 by a belt drive 16 passing over idlers 17 which are movable on the frame 1 to adjust belt-tension. The sleeve 11 carries an agitator 33 within the hopper, and its upper end is sheathed by a rubber tube 34 attached to a cap 8. The cap rests on the end of the shaft 5 and suspends the hopper 6 on brackets 7. The disc and valve are axially movable by a thrustblock 21 actuated by a lever-and-link system 25, 26, 28, 29 which moves over-centre in the fullyraised position of the valve to maintain the valve in contact with the hopper mouth. The main frame 1 runs on land-wheels 3 and comprises triangulated beams converging towards a draught-member 4 attachable to a tractor. In a modification, the hopper is provided at one side with an additional opening and adjustable gate so that material falls on to one side of the disc thereby producing a non-uniform scattering.
