Abstract

The plastically deformable isobutylene polymer mixture of the parent Specification is subjected to a stretching operation by which the cross-section of the material is reduced. The materials may be used as foils for packing and sealing or as sheathings for electric cable and conductor cores. For the latter a tube, either circular or polygonal, is produced, e.g. by extrusion, said tube having an internal diameter equal to a multiple of the diameter of the core which is drawn in while the tube is simultaneously stretched, for instance by a high drawing-off speed relative to the extrusion speed. The sheating may alternatively be fashioned from a strip by welding abutting or overlapping edges.
