An appliance for disinfecting, deodorizing, perfuming, or similarly treating lavatory pans, in which a suitable disinfecting, deodorizing or perfuming material is located in a receptacle held at a position immediately below the downturned lip at the inner portion of the pan, preferably at the front, the receptacle being constructed so that flush water swirling round each side of the upper portion of the pan will wash down a portion of the material, comprises a receptacle attached to an arm terminating in a resilient wedge adapted to be pushed into the recess defined by the downturned lip of the pan. As shewn at the underside of an open box 1 provided with an aperture 2 opposite its open side and ribs 3 extending across the aperture serving as a grille to retain a block of disinfectant &c. (not shewn) inserted into the box, a rivet 4 secures a short arm 5 of a bent strip 6 of springy material e.g. stainless steel extending upwards across the open side of the box, and bent at an acute angle 7 and from the end of the wedge thus defined an extension 8, bent rearwardly and downwardly enters the box 1 through the open side thereof, the end of which extension 8 is bent at 9 to enable it to be engaged by the finger tip through the aperture 2. The angle 7 is pushed into the space defined by the overhanging lip 10 of a lavatory pan 11 so that the wedge at the upper end of strip 6 lodges therein whereon the box is pulled outwardly, flexing strip 6 for the insertion of a disinfecting, cleansing or odorant block.
