Class 110(2) An hydraulic gearing for steering ships comprises cylinders 1, 2 having arcuate double-acting pistons 3. The cylinders 1, 2 are supported on the hub 11 of a rudder head 10 which is rigidly connected to the piston rods 4, 5, 6, 7 by arms 8, 9. The cylinders are prevented from rotating by spring buffers 14, 15 (not shown) secured thereto and arranged between the stops 16, 17 of buffer blocks 18, 19 which are fastened to the deck of the ship, see also Fig. 3 (not shown). The piston rods 4. 5 or 6, 7 respectively may be in one piece. The cylinders may be centred by the rudder head and carried by adjustable track-supporting rollers installed in the deck of the ship or 'the cylinders may be connected to the rudder head and the pistons fixed to the ship:
