Abstract

742,124. Optical-projection apparatus. SOC. GENEVOISE D'lNSTRUMENTS DE PHYSIQUE. March 30, 1953 [April 4, 1952], No. 8680/53. Class 97 (1). An object is illuminated episcopically through the projection objective, additional diascopic illumination being obtained if a pivoted mirror beyond the object is perpendicular to the axis. If the mirror is inclined no diascopic illumination is provided by light entering through the objective, but the light source may be moved to produce diascopic illumination only by light reflected from the mirror. One form is shown in two perpendicular vertical sections. A housing 1, containing lamp 3 with condenser 4, is carried at the end of a pivoted arm 2 in the lower position B, of which it is aligned with a condenser 10. Part of the light reflected from a semi-reflecting mirror 11 passes through the objective 8 to illuminate the workpiece 7 on the transparent vertically adjustable table 16. Above the table is a pivoted mirror 6 which, in the position shown dotted in Fig. 1 reflects light passing the object 7 back through the objective 8 which forms an image on the screen 9 after reflection of the light beam by mirrors 12, 13. In the position A of the housing 1, with additional condenser 5 attached and with the mirror 6 in the inclined position diasoopic illumination only is provided. The mirror 6 may be concave.
