Abstract
741,988. Tubular heat-exchangers. HOARE, A., HOARE, C. R., and HOARE, S. N. April 21, 1953 [Jan. 22, 1952], No. 1750/52. Class 64(3). A tubular heat-exchanger comprises one or more U-tubes 6 arranged within a housing 1, each limb of each of the tubes being surrounded for a part of its length by a tubular member 8 flared at one end 9 to form a tapering inlet for a condensible fluid which is directed through the housing and hence through the annular spaces between the tubes 6 and their associated members 8 from a condensible fluid inlet (not shown), to a condensate outlet 7. In the form described, steam is passed through the casing and is condensed by feed-water which is passed through the tubes 6 either in the same direction as the flow of steam over the tubes or in the opposite direction.
