Abstract

740,976. Cycle gear cases. SPEEDWELL GEAR CASE CO., Ltd. Sept. 11, 1953 [Sept. 22, 1952], No. 23672/52. Class 136 (1). A cycle gear case made of relatively thin sheet metal is secured to the cycle frame in two positions by reinforcing members 24, 37 of metal strip secured internally of the gear case body, the members 24, 27 being of thickness greater than the walls of the gear case and receiving fastening elements 31, 39 for drawing them against the adjacent chain stay 30 of the cycle frame. The member 24 is of C shape. As shown in Fig. 2, a portion 34 of the member 24 is shaped to mate with the chain stay 30. The member 37, Fig. 3, carries a central boss 38 which is internally threaded to co-operate with a bolt 39.
