Abstract

740,690. Cycle gear cases. BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO.. Ltd. June 3, 1953 [March 3, 1952], No. 212/52. Class 136 (1). In a casing or enclosure for the chain drive to the rear wheel of a motor-cycle or a pedal-cycle in which two plates 1 are secured together to form a channel between or within which the chain 3 is adapted to pass, the outer edges 11 of the two plates 1 are spaced apart leaving a peripheral gap adapted to be embraced by a cover 7 in the form of a sealing band connecting the edges of the plates. The plates are spaced apart by distance pieces held in position by bolts 9. To reduce the ingress of dirt a disc 21 (Fig. 2) is attached to sleeves 19 on the hub of the driven sprocket wheel. Washers 23 are interposed between the'disc 21 and the plate 1 to which the disc is attached by bolts. An opening 15 having a detachable cover 17 is provided in the casing for the introduction of lubricant.
