740,559. Toy vehicles and tracks. THOMPSON, A. J. March 9, 1954. [March 11, 1953], No. 6681/53. Class 132(3) Toy vehicles are guided along a pathway of a track 1 by the engagement of lugs 4 with a groove 2 in the track and each vehicle is propelled by an inertia wheel 10 which is spun by a clockwork or electric motor unit 11 provided alongside the track. Means may be provided for lifting a vehicle and bringing a boss 14 of the inertia wheel into contact with the driving end 13 of the motor unit and the means may include a trigger device to start the motor unit when the vehicle is raised. The lugs 4 are of such dimensions that two vehicles side by side on the different pathways can pass without interference. The. lugs may be removed to allow the vehicles to run on an ungrooved surface. Vehicle wheels 7 are driven by friction contact of inertia wheel spindle 9 on the wheels.
