Abstract

739,941. Glass drawing. DEUTSCHE TAFELGLAS AKT.-GES. DETAG. Feb. 23; 1954 [March 27, 1953], No. 5253/54. Drawings to Specification. Class 56. To reduce the drawing waves in a glass sheet continuously drawn from molten glass, particularly in the Fourcault process, gases preheated to over 250‹ C. and preferably at least up to the medium gas temperature in the drawing chamber are admitted on both sides of the glass sheet transversely to the drawing direction. The gases may travel in the same direction or in counter-current and are admitted through one or both narrow sides of the drawing chamber, passing between the main water coolers and the wall of the drawing chamber and above the water coolers between the sheet and the wall of the chamber.
