739,647. Firebridges. BRAAMT, H. Feb. 24, 1954 [Feb. 26, 1953], No. 5419/54. Class 51 (1). Secondary air is supplied to a boiler through an air-heating metal casing 8 located behind and against the firebridge 7 and having an air inlet 10 and air outlets 17, the casing being covered at its top and rear sides with refractory material. As shown in Fig. 4, the casing is provided with a zig-zag channel 12 which is mainly situated in the part lying behind the firebridge support 6, whilst between the outlet of the channel 12 and the air outlets 17 is a grid 13 which effects a uniform distribution of preheated air over the outlets 17.
