Abstract
739,537. Cooling motors. FOOD MACHINERY & CHEMICAL CORPORATION. April 1, 1954 [May 18, 1953], No. 9556/54. Class 35. In a vertical spindle pump motor, a non- magnetic partition between the stator and rotor forms part of a fluid-tight chamber containing the rotor and having a radial flange for supporting the stator in such manner that the latter is removable without disturbing the fluid-tight chamber. As shown, the motor rotor is on a sleeve 47 on the pump shaft 20 which has impellers at its lower end axially adjustable relative to the rotor by nut 67 at the rotor end. The sleeve and upper part of shaft 20 have passages for some of the oil being pumped to be directed from the outlet 22 for lubricating the bearing sleeves 27, 36 and cooling the rotor, returning from the top of the rotor through duct 146 to the container 14 of the oil being pumped. The stator, which is completely separated from the rotor by non-magnetic shell 85, is cooled by fan 124 driven by motor 125 and circulating air through ducts 126.
