739,467. Collapsible tubes. UNILEVER, Ltd. March 12, 1954 [March 13, 1953], No. 7353/54. Class 66. A collapsible tube comprises a tubular body portion 1, a shoulder 2 and a threaded neck 3, all of plastic material, e.g. polyvinyl chloride or polythene, and a metal sheath 5 surrounding the tubular body portion 1. The sheath 5 may partially, Fig. 1, or completely; Fig. 2, surround the tubular body 1. As shown in Fig. 2, the shoulder 2 may be provided with a grooved flange 6 one of the ends of the metal sheath 5 being inserted into the circular groove. Alternatively the sheath may have an inwardly directed shoulder which has the same inclination as and rests on the shoulder 2. In this case the shoulder 2 may be provided with an annular recess so that the shoulder of the metal sheath 5 comes flush with the shoulder of the tube. The sheath 5 is secured to' the tubular body 1 by an adhesive or by heat sealing.
