738,597. Bed-rests. PHILLIPS, Ltd., A. March 22, 1954 [Dec. 20, 1952], No. 32360/52. Class 52(2). A back-rest for a bedstead comprises a rectangular frame having a hinged connection through a pair of arms 8 to the head and bow 6 of the bedstead, the arms 8 being pivoted to the ends of a tube 11d having a pair of rods 12 at right angles to it telescoping into the vertical rods 11b of the frame. Arms 8 pivot about brackets 7, their angle being limited by the disc-like members 9, 9a fixed to the arms 8 having projections 9b or shoulders 9c. One of the discs, e.g. 9a, has notches 9d which are engaged by a lever-operated catch 10 for fixing the angle of the arm. The rods 12 are screwed in bosses 11e on tube 11d. Rod 13 passes through the tube 11d and is fixed in bores in the upper ends of the arms to affect the swivel mounting of tube 11d. Bars 14 on the bow 6 stop rearward overswinging of the frame. Handles 15 may be used as setting screws for the telescoping rods.
