Abstract

736,998. Conveyer belts. GREENGATE & IRWELL RUBBER CO., Ltd., and MARSHALL, D. D. July 8, 1953 [July 22, 1952], No. 18467/52. Class 78 (1). [Also in Group VIII] A conveyer belt comprises a number of plies impregnated with frictioning compositions based on natural rubber or inflammable synthetic rubber-like materials enclosed in a non-inflammable outer covering of non-inflammable synthetic rubber or a mixture thereof with a vinyl chloride polymer or copolymer. The outer covering may comprise polychloroprene alone or mixed with other synthetic rubbers such as butadiene-acrylonitrile or butadiene-styrene copolymers in such amounts as to render the mixture non-inflammable. Specified vinyl compounds include polyvinyl chloride and copolymers of vinyl chloride with one or more vinyl compounds such as vinyl acetate and vinylidene chloride. The examples describe particular compositions for the outer covering. Specification 736,997 is disclaimed.
