Abstract
736,900. Photographic cameras. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. April 20, 1953 [April 23, 1952], No. 10744/53. Class 98 (1). A photographic camera comprises a viewfinder in a housing which also contains one or more graduations indicating the position of a camera control or controls, and a light source for illuminating the graduations. The light source may be in series with a switch so that a flash-bulb circuit may be tested. As shown the viewfinder lenses 1, 2 are mounted in a housing (not shown) of which lens 1 is mounted in the back wall and a limiting frame 3 is mounted in the front wall. A pointer 10, coupled to the focusing mechanism of the camera, moves over a distance scale 9, and a disc 11 bearing numbers indicating the number of exposures made is geared to the film winding mechanism and observed by means of a mirror 13 and lens 2. A flash-bulb 5 is connected to be fired by a battery 6 when a switch 7 (e.g.) in the camera shutter is closed. Switch 7 is shunted by a switch 8 and a lamp 4. The resistance of lamp 4 is such that the current passing through the flash-bulb when switch 8 is closed does not fire the flash-bulb, but causes lamp 4 to light. Lamp 4 is mounted at the side of the view-finder casing to illuminate scale 9 and disc 11. Scales showing diaphragm opening and shutter speed may be similarly illumminated.
