Abstract

735,000. Electric heating resistances. BARGEHR, R. Sept. 7, 1953 [Sept. 8, 1952], No. 24693/53. Class 39 (3). An electric heater for flat-irons or cooking pots comprises a spiral resistance wire 3 threaded on slotted insulating beads 4 each having an upwardly enlarging continuous slot 5, the width of the slot at its inner edge being smaller than the diameter of the helix 3. The beads are mounted between spiral ribs 2 on a heating plate 1. A reflector 8 mounted below the beads has an upwardly concave surface below each bead, which has rounded or flattened sides, preferably cemented to the ribs 2. The reflector 8 is cemented at 10 to a supporting plate 7 and may comprise an insulating sheet formed with a metal reflecting surface. The centre of curvature of the reflectors is above the axis of the resistance coil. Each bead may carry a separate reflector, which may be slid into a hollow body 18 below the bead. The body 18 may be formed by cementing a trough member on to downwardly extending ribs on the lower edges of the bead. The hollow body 18 may be open only at its front.
