Cleaning devices for inking and like rollers.- A cleaning device for an inking or like roller, e.g. in a lithographic printing machine, comprises a trough-shaped member 1 mounted for movement towards and away from the roller B, and a liner L detachably positioned in the trough and including a hollow body portion having a lip or flange 11 extending outwardly from the upper edge of one of the side walls of the body to serve as a wiper blade for removing ink from the roller and directing it into the hollow body portion. The member 1 has side walls 1a, 1b and is carried at its ends on arms 2 having hooked extensions 3 for releasable engagement over pins 4 on a part of the machine frame. Springs 5 pivotally attached to brackets 7 on arms 2 are adapted in the operative position to bear on the underside of cams 13 rotatable by levers 16 to vary the pressure of the wiper blade against the roller B. For mounting and removing the trough member the springs 5 are pivoted through 90 degrees so as to lie parallel to the trough 1 and the hooks 3 are released from the pins 4. The liner, which consists of a bottom portion 8, sides 9, 10 and lips or flanges 11, 12, may be made from stiff paper so that it can be destroyed after use. It may be folded up from a blank having scored fold lines or alternatively it may be moulded from paper pulp or plastic in which case end walls may be provided to form a closed trough. When paper is used it is preferably absorbent.
