A container a for granular or powdered material is closed by a closure b having a raised central portion c with discharge aperture c<SP>1</SP> obturated by a rotatable disc d of resilient material having an aperture or apertures d<SP>3</SP> and secured to the closure by means of a knob d<SP>1</SP> formed on its underside and which is pressed through an aperture c<SP>2</SP> in the closure. The disc has a stop d4 which cooperates with aperture c<SP>1</SP>. In a modification the aperture c<SP>2</SP> has a depending flange.
