Abstract

Therapeutic compositions contain a water-soluble chlorophyll and one or more sodium, potassium or ammonium salts of a monocarboxylic acid having from three to eleven carbon atoms, suitably in the weight ratio of 1 : 5 - 100,000. The acids may be saturated or unsaturated, and may be halogen substituted; examples are propionic, (iso)-butric, (iso) valeric, methylethyl-acetic, caproic, oenanthic, caprylic, pelargonic, capric, undecylenic acid. The water-soluble chlorophyll may be sodium or potassium copper, magnesium or iron chlorophyllin. The compositions may be aqueous solutions for wet dressings, isotonic saline solutions, in dry form, or in the form of ointments, &c., ethylene oxide polymers and lanolin being specified as bases. Solutions may be injected subcutaneously or intravenously. The pH of various compositions varies from 5 to 8.
